A movie starring songs and cats? Don’t be afraid, this is different. 10 Lives is an animated comedy that follows Beckett (Mo Gilligan), a spoiled cat who takes his nine lives for granted, but is given a second chance at life that takes him on a transformative journey. The cast also includes Zayn Malik and Simone Ashley, who duetted on a song for the film’s soundtrack. “Music is kind of my first love, before I got into acting, and I annoyed (director) Chris (Jenkins) at first like, I can sing, I can sing,” she said. Bridgerton told Star about how their duet came about. You can hear more about this song in the video above, along with:
➼ Ashley describes the film as “perfect” and Gilligan insists it’s “not a disaster.”
➼ How Beckett manages to break the fourth wall with some British slang.
➼ The voices that Chris Jenkins has set for his golden retrievers.
10 Lives , which also stars Sophie Okonedo, Dylan Llewellyn and Bill Nighy, premiered Jan. 20 at Sundance. Paramount Pictures will release it in the United States on November 8.
